True value of DIY giveaway

**This giveaway is now closed. The winner has been contacted.

Hey all! Hope your week was GREAT! We have a busy weekend planned and then school starts next week – I will miss my Bub so much! :( And is it crazy that I feel like life will slow down after school starts? This is the first time I’ve felt that way, but I’m starting to look forward to the schedules, and focusing on one thing (school) and the thought of fall. Just a little. ;)

Today I have a fun giveaway for you, and it’s brought to you by my friends at True Value. I’ve been working with them during the fall for years now and I’m excited to be on the Blog Squad yet again this year!

My closest True Value is about 20 minutes away but I love going there because it feels so small town and homey to me. It reminds me of stores I went to with my Dad growing up. And my location has the most incredible selection I’ve ever seen in a hardware store when it comes to a few things – spray paint (whoot!!) and hardware (knobs and pulls) to name a couple.

So I’ll be sharing some TV projects coming up soon, but for now we’re kicking off the partnership with a fun giveaway for YOU.

True Value is all about the “True Value of DIY.” I love that. Specifically they believe in keeping family heirlooms alive through DIY – refinishing a piece of furniture instead of buying a new one. Repairing something that’s been in the family for years instead of tossing it. Painting furniture that you want to keep but you don’t love as is -- make it something YOU love.

We don’t have a lot of family heirlooms, sadly, but I did tell you about one that I discovered earlier this year:

 vintage cuckoo clock

I thought the cuckoo clock I had grown up with was long gone, and it was an awesome surprise to find out it was still around. My Dad had it refurbished as part of my Christmas present and I’m still so thankful to have a piece of my history in our home.

True Value speaks to the True Value of DIY in this brief YouTube video – I have to say it made me a little misty-eyed. ;) It made me wonder if my boy will sanding down my kitchen table some day. Sniff.

So to kick off this year’s Blog Squad and to celebrate the value of our family heirlooms, True Value is offering a $100 gift card to one of you this weekend! You can do a lot of refinishing or fixing with $100:true value gift card

Before entering you may want to see what stores are near you by going here.

All you need to do to enter is comment here – do you have family heirloom you’ve fixed up or would love to? Is there is a certain piece that brings back happy memories for you?

Be sure to leave an email in the comments if you’re account is not connected to a blog! (Do so with “at” and “dot” spelled out to avoid spammy junk, just in case.) This giveaway will be open through Monday, August 12th at noon (EST). The winner will be emailed.

Have a LOVELY weekend everybody!

Can you imagine the possibilities?

This one NEEDS to be in my backyard! I love it:

I still LOVE my bread bowl I got from Decor Steals awhile back:

(I hear another version is coming soon!)

If you have to do laundry, do it in style I say! And these striped laundry sacks are the way to do it:

jute striped laundry baskets

I use a similar basket for the Bub’s clothes and it is so easy to carry around!

So did I mention shipping is always $5, whether it’s a small item or a big one? (In the 48 contiguous states.) Love that.

I’m super excited about today’s deal though – it will go live at 10 a.m. EST! Don’t you love them?:

mason jar soap dispensers

So cute!! I need them! They would look so darn good in the powder room. ;)

Soooo, the good news is Decor Steals is giving away a $50 credit to two lucky readers. You’ll be able to have fun with that, I promise!

Spring cleaning time (giveaway!)

**This giveaway is now closed. The winner has been contacted via email.

Hello all! Happy FRIDAY! It is just beauuuutiful here today and it makes me happy. Dare I say it -- I think spring is finally here to stay! Mother Nature has been in a MOOD, for real. Now let’s hope we don’t jump right into 90 degree temps.

This giveaway is coming just in time for spring cleaning – ‘tis that time of year for organizing, cleaning and decrapifing the house! I can’t help you too much with the decrapification, but I can help you with the cleaning part. (No, I’m not helping you clean, nice try.)

My friend Bonnie introduced me to Shaklee products years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I’m not just saying that either – if I say it I mean it and I’m saying it so I mean it. Got it?

shaklee-logo

After trying the products for the first time I ended up going through our cleaning supply stash and donating most of what we had because the Shaklee stuff took the place of it.

I have tried nearly everything at this point, but two of my very favorites are the dish washer detergent, which I keep next to the sink in a pretty bowl:

dishwash detergent in bowl

I gotta make stuff pretty if I can, it’s a sickness. ;) Two little scoops for each load, that’s it.

And the amazing Basic H cleaning concentrate – it has lasted me FOREVER:

shaklee

I was hesitant to try these products at first because I assumed they would be so expensive, but I can’t stress to you enough how long the basics last – I’ve had this bottle of concentrate for years now. And every time I say that I wonder if people think I clean my house – I do. Sometimes. Seriously, you just need a 1/4 teaspoon to mix up a whole bottle and it lasts forEVA.

I think I’m going on three years with one bottle of concentrate? (It was $12 I think?) And it cleans pretty much everything you can imagine – I usually do a slightly bigger dose of the concentrate for the “degreasing” version and use it on counters, mirrors, windows, appliances, sinks…everything.

I started using these products when the Bub was younger and I was honestly surprised they work so well – I expected the more “natural” items (no harmful fumes or hazardous chemicals) to not work as well. Not sure why, I just had that thought in my head, but I was proven wrong and have been a fan since.

Bonnie shares some great cleaning tips over at her blog, and this recent post shows how well the products work. (I forgot about the Scour Off on the oven – it’s awesome and smells. SO. good.)

I’m super excited about this giveaway because one of you will get a whole Get Clean Starter Kit that includes the following:

Basic H2® Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate, 16 oz. (1)
Germ Off Disinfecting Wipes, 35 Wipes (1)
Nature Bright® Laundry Booster and Stain Remover, 32 oz. (1)
Dish Wash Concentrate, 16 oz. (1)
Dish Washer Automatic Concentrate, 32 oz. (1)
Fresh Laundry Concentrate HE Compatible, Regular Scent  32 oz. (Liquid) (1)
Soft Fabric Dryer Sheets, 80 sheets (1)
Dish Washer Automatic Concentrate Dispenser (empty) (1)
Nature Bright® Dispenser (empty) (1)

shaklee basic H basic H wipes shakleedish wash concentrate shaklee shaklee dish wash detergent  nature bright shakleedryer sheets shaklee laundry detergent shaklee

Seriously, you’ll be in cleaning HEAVEN! It’s a $115 value and I promise you it will last you a LONG time!

Here’s how to win the $115 Shaklee cleaning starter kit:

1. Leave a comment here. Boom. Please tell me it’s feeling like spring where you are too!

2. Visit Bonnie’s Shaklee site here and take a look around. Find a product you’d love to try out and come back to let us know what it is.

3. Go to Bonnie’s Facebook page and “like” it here. Let us know you did in another comment. (If you already do, just let us know!)

* You can enter using one, two or three methods – it’s up to you! All options are not mandatory to win.

* Remember if you comment anonymously or you have a private blog, please include your email address in each entry, and spell it out with “at” and “dot” to avoid any spammy emails coming your way. (I have turned anonymous comments back on for this giveaway!)

This giveaway is open to the US only. It will close this Monday, April 29 at 9 a.m. EST. Have a wonderful weekend!!

logo-(1)

They are no strangers to TDC and it’s because I love their products and their fun site! They are pretty awesome to work with too. :)

Let’s take a look at some of the pretty pieces they offer, shall we? These metal numbered signs are always a big hit:

I love those for a mud room, lined up with hooks. :)

I was just talking about boxwoods for spring and looky here:

I love the big fluffy ball! Oh, how fun!

There’s usually some textiles too, like this Union Jack pillow:

And I love this big roman numeral clock:

I’m still trying to figure out the right spot in our house for a big round clock…I’ve wanted one for years!

I LOVE this whole section on the site – the signs and trays are so pretty!:

spring decorating

All of it is perfect for spring and summer!

I think this standing chalkboard is my favorite:

Do-It-Herself Workshop (and giveaway!)

Hey all! I am so glad it’s Friday!! We had some ice accumulation here last night and I was hoping for a snow day for the kiddo, but we made due with a delay (and sleeping in). ;) I cannot wait for a weekend of relaxing and puttering around!

Last night I was honored to co-lead the Do-It-Herself workshop at a local Home Depot and let me tell you, I was SO impressed with how they put it together! The set up was just adorable – since this month’s project was Pinterest-inspired, they pulled ideas from there to create some fun vignettes.

This was a DIY workshop, and I will get to that more in a minute, but just loved how cute the set up was so I have to brag on them for that first. They pulled out their stock of outdoor furniture for the audience so it was comfy and colorful:

home depot do it herself workshop

Brilliant idea!

The sign-in booth was just so cute – everything was made from pallets and wood they had at the store (hellooo Pinterest!!):

home depot do it herself workshop

Don’t you love the pennants they made from scrapbook paper?

They had super cute bags with goodies for each attendee too:

home depot do it herself worksho

I don’t know if you can see my apron there, but one of the staff members painted mine just for me and it is SO CUTE. She used colors from my blog and it is precious – I love it.

OK, I know I should be talking about the DIY, but the food table was amazing too:

pallet table

More pennants, more pallet tables, and I LOVED the idea of lining the barrels with lawn bags and using them for the beverages. Seriously? So fun!

The workshop leader Janice did a great job of sharing the process of tiling a frame around a mirror. They had smaller ones there for people to try out, but this is a great idea for those basic builder mirrors so many of us have hanging in our bathrooms too.

These were my favorites of the night:

tiling around a mirror

I was obsessed with that smaller one with the small tiles – it had such a pretty beachy vibe.

Janice shared a tip she uses for smaller projects like this that I would never have thought to do. She just puts on gloves and then smooshes the grout in between the tiles with her hands. Loved that – it’s messy no matter how you do it but that makes it even easier!

I think my favorite “tool” of the whole project was the tile setting mat – it’s just sticky stuff you put down instead of mortar. Way less mess and so much easier! (I’m Vanna Whiting it here):

home depot do it herself workshop

I’m planning on using it in the laundry room so I’ll let you know how it works.

The ladies (and some gentleman) got to shop for their own materials as well – they had some beautiful mosaic tiles to pick from:

home depot do it herself workshop

I found a perfect one for the basement bathroom, now I just need to decide where to put it. :)

It was a fun night and we had a great turn out, especially with the weather we had coming in. Hope everyone got home safe and sound!

Thanks to Janice for leading the workshop and Celeste for her help along the way and beautiful ideas for the set up:

home depot do it herself worksho

Don’t forget – the workshops are offered every month on the third Thursday and are free to attend. Next month is how to install dimmers – one of my very favorite things to do in our house. It would be great to see how to do it first hand if you haven’t done one yourself. (Go here to find out more.)

It was an honor to work with everyone from Home Depot this month! To celebrate, they are giving me a $100 HD gift card to give away to one of you!

Here’s how to enter to win $100 to the Home Depot!:

1. Leave a comment here. That was easy. :) What home project would you tackle with the help of this gift card? I can think of a few. Or ten.

2. If you attended the workshop and tried out this project on your own, pin a picture of yours with the hash tag #DIHWorkshop and then comment here with a link to that. (This giveaway will be open till the 28th so you’ve got time!)

* You can enter one or two times – it’s up to you! All options are not mandatory to win – they’re just extra chances. :)

* Remember if you comment anonymously or you have a private blog, please include your email address in each entry, and spell it out with “at” and “dot” to avoid any spammy emails coming your way.

This giveaway is open to the contiguous US only. It will be close Thursday, February 28, at 9 a.m. EST.

Everyday Icing (giveaway)

**This giveaway is now closed. The winner has been emailed!

Hello all! It’s Friiiiiday! I am looking forward to another low key weekend -- I was out of town a couple days this week and I came home and feel like my house blew UP. I will be addressing that over the next couple of days. :)

Today I have another giveaway for you to kick off the weekend! I mentioned earlier this week that I’m not taking on nearly as many of these for 2013, but this one I could not pass up.

A old blogging friend of mine (some of you may remember Kimba from A Soft Place to Land!) has started a new business venture and I’m so excited for her! Partly because it’s just a cool idea, partly because now I get to shop fun new jewelry. ;)

Their new idea is a Facebook-based business called Everyday Icing:

The ladies who started Everyday Icing Accessory Auctions love designer jewelry, but not designer prices. They know the least expensive way to take an outfit from plain to fabulous is with the right jewelry, but most of us have a budget to watch. Hence this idea – awesome jewelry at awesome prices!

SO, how does it work?

Everyday Icing combines social media and shopping. You just like their Facebook page to stay in the loop on the new deals. (If you want to make sure they show up in your Newsfeed, then hover over the "like" button and select "Add to News Feed".)

Shopping with Everyday Icing is very easy:
1. Visit their Facebook page every Monday evening at 9 p.m. EST to see and buy their newest jewelry. The prices are fixed and the quantities are limited. When they're gone, they're gone!

2. They'll post pictures and descriptions of 20-30 fabulous items. Comment "Sold" on any deal that you can't resist, but make sure to include your email address. (To keep your email address private, click our “Register to Shop” tab on our home page, then you can just comment "Sold".)

3. They will invoice you through PayPal and you have 24 hours to pay. Domestic shipping is always FREE! (Oh yeah…love free shipping.)

It’s so simple, right? I kind of love that all the deals come to YOU. You see them in your feed and don’t have to do a thing to “shop.” Seriously? That’s awesome. And dangerous.

If you have more questions, they have a “How to Bid” tab on their page that explains more.

So let’s check out some of the goodies, shall we? I’m already thinking about warmer temps and I LOVE wearing navy and gold in the summer:

nautical pictures

That starfish bracelet is so sweet!

I’m really loving all the turquoise pieces as well, this color is still HUGE:

southwest collage

And I thought this one is lovely for spring – all of them just feel light and happy:

turquoise and mint collage

Don’t you love that they sell scarves too? I’m obsessed with scarves!

So here’s the fun part – the little package one of you will win this weekend:

TDC prize collage

It includes $100 worth of their products, including the following:

- Michael Kors inspired boyfriend watch
- Lightweight leopard scarf in teal
- Turquoise Van Cleef inspired quatrefoil necklace
- Gold classic pave button earrings
- Chevron bangle bracelets

I love every single piece! Whoo!

Here’s how to win the goodies!:

1. Leave a comment here. EASY. :)

2. Visit the Everyday Icing Facebook page and “like” it here. Let us know you did in another comment. (If you already do, just let us know!)

* You can enter one or two times – it’s up to you! All options are not mandatory to win.

* Remember if you comment anonymously or you have a private blog, please include your email address in each entry, and spell it out with “at” and “dot” to avoid any spammy emails coming your way.

This giveaway is open to the US and Canada. It will close this Monday,  February 11 at 9 a.m. EST.

Home decor giveaway!

**This giveaway is now closed. Winners have been contacted via email.

Well if you’re like me you’re still in a food coma and laying in bed a little extra longer this morning. But if you’re like some of my friends who go out at 1 a.m. (2 a.m.? 4 a.m.? I have no idea, I’m sleeping then) then you are just getting home and going to sleep now.

I much prefer the sleeping in and lounging bit, but either way I’m pretty positive you’ll love shopping from your computer no matter what. I promise you’ll find something you love at Decor Steals:

decor-steals-LOGO.jpg

This is one of my very favorite deal-a-day sites! Unlike many of the others, this one is all decor, all the time and it’s all at an incredible price (up to 85 percent off of retail). My kind of place!! And today marks their third birthday – awww, so sweet!

Here’s a few of my favorites that you’ve seen lately or will see soon at DS!

It’s hard enough to find a pretty wood tray, but to find one that’s round and so ornate?:

wood round serving tray

Those would look SO cool hanging on a wall in the kitchen too!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, one of the reasons I love this site is that you’ll find items you’re friends won’t have in their house. (OK, unless your BFF shops them too, like one of mine.) ;)

These angel wings are so unique!:

wood angel wings

How beautiful would those be for Christmas?? Maybe spray painted even, or gold leafed? Gorgeous!!

And they never disappoint with items that look like they would have come from a certain “Barn”:

pottery barn-like lanterns

These look so similar to what I see in the catalogs! (For a fraction of the price of course.)

I have a thing with candelabras. I use one over our tub in the bathroom and also outside under our pergola and both are from Decor Steals! It is SO hard to find pretty ones. Stores don’t carry them and most online sources carry really basic versions.

I love this French-inspired candelabra from DS:

french style candeabra

Isn’t that lovely?

I love what my friend Marian did with the beautiful mercury glass candleholders from Decor Steals:

mercury glass candleholders

Just stunning!!

And I am just giddy about their Black Friday deal – live preserved boxwood wreaths!:

preserved boxwood wreath

I’m kind of obsessed with the idea of boxwood wreaths this year and was planning on using them in a spot anyway, but they can be SO expensive (usually at least $50 each). These are $29 each and I’m grabbing one!

The deals start at 10 a.m. EST each day, so grab them while you can! They usually have extended deals where you can catch items for a few extra days too.

This weekend Decor Steals is celebrating Black Friday by giving away $100 in credit to one of you, and three preserved boxwood wreaths to three more of you! YAY!! Let the holiday decorating begin!!

Here’s how to enter to win $100 in credit to Decor Steals or one of three boxwood wreaths:

1. Leave a comment here. What did you eat for Thanksgiving? OK, what didn’t you eat for Thanksgiving? ;)

2. Visit Decor Steals here and check out their pick steals tab. Which item do you want to see offered in the future? Come back here to let us know in a comment.

3. Visit their Facebook page and “like” it here OR follow them on Pinterest here. Let us know you did in another comment. (If you already do, just let us know!)

4. Subscribe to their email list here (you’ll get notices about the new deals) and if you do (or are already on the list), leave one more comment here.

* You can enter one, two, three or four times – it’s up to you! All options are not mandatory to win.

* Remember if you comment anonymously or you have a private blog, please include your email address in each entry, and spell it out with “at” and “dot” to avoid any spammy emails coming your way.

This giveaway is open to the contiguous US only. It will close this Monday,  November 26 at 9 a.m. EST.

I hope you have a lovely holiday weekend! I’m off to eat some pumpkin pie for breakfast.

Antique Farm House

**This giveaway is now closed. The winners have been contacted via email.

What is UP? Hope you had a lovely week! This week has been just crazy around here – I am SO looking forward to the weekend! It’s supposed to be unseasonably cool here (60 degrees?!) so we may have to get a fire roaring at some point. Bliss.

This weekend I have some goodies for you from one of my favorite online shops, Antique Farm House:

logo (1)

Antique Farm House is sales event kind of store -- they have several “events” going at once (with different themed decor) and about every other day a new event launches at 11a.m. (EST) and an older event expires. Their prices are pretty fantastic too.

If you love the look of antiques but don’t have a shop nearby, or if you just plain don’t want to leave the house, this site is for you. ;) I LOVE this stuff.

They have some beauties and I wanted to share a few of them with you. One of the newer events is one with a bunch of different repurposed suitcases:

repurposing old suitcases

I just saw a photo online today of an old suitcase repurposed into a dog bed – how cauuute! Love that idea!

This light fixture is one of my favorite items they’ve carried:

wire basket light fixture

How cool would that look above a long farmhouse table? Swoon!!

I have a serious love of anything industrial lately – I love these pieces mixed in with a traditional look to mix things up a bit:

industrial decor

I adore those stools! The aqua color with the wood seat? LOVE.

These metal number signs are always popular over at AFH too:

I think they would look awesome lined up in a mud room with hooks underneath. :)

Of course there are a ton of accessories to pick from too – one of my BFFs shops this site and finds the CUTEST stuff. These all look like her:

I love that roman numeral clock…a LOT. I think she needs it. And I could borrow it. ;)

I love that you’ll find piece on AFH that you won’t find in stores. (At least I haven’t seen their items anywhere.) Like this iron mustache hook:  How cute is that! I love funky touches like that. Maybe for hubby’s coat and umbrella? :)

As always, I save the best for last…this weekend they are giving away two $50 credits for two of you to spend as you wish at Antique Farm House!

Here’s how to enter to win one of two $50 credits to AFH:

1. Leave a comment here. What’s up this weekend? Football game here, mixed with a little marching band. And I’m moving some furniture around…can’t wait to show you how it turns out. :)

2. Visit Antique Farmhouse here. Check out the different events (“current sales events” tab at the top) and come back to let us know the item you love the most.

3. Visit their Facebook page and “like” it here. Let us know you did in another comment. (If you already like it, leave a comment telling me.)

4. Subscribe to their email list here (you’ll get notices about the new deals) and if you do (or are already on the list), leave one more comment here.

* You can enter one, two, three or four times – it’s up to you!

It will be close this Monday, September 24 at 9 a.m. EST.

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!!
